Computer Use Policy
The
Internet is an information resource that the library makes available to the
public. The Wadsworth Library takes no responsibility for the content, which may
be inaccurate, outdated, libelous, offensive or disturbing.
Computer
use is free of charge and open to all. Children under the age of 12 must be
accompanied by an adult when on Internet computers.
Registered
borrowers must present a library card to “checkout” a computer at the main desk.
“Checkout” will be interpreted as agreement to abide by the Computer Use Policy.
Sessions
are limited to one hour unless someone is waiting to use the computers, then
they are limited to one-half hour. Computer use is first-come, first-serve. No
more than two people may be at a computer station at one time. Sessions may be terminated at the discretion of the Library Staff or computer privileges revoked for inappropriate use of services. Inappropriate use includes, but is not limited to: use of equipment in such a way as to damage it, loud or disruptive behavior, attempting to alter the system settings or configuration, and downloading software or files to the hard drive. ConfidentialityThe Wadsworth Library
specifically recognizes that library records and patron information are
confidential. Under New York State law, library records shall be confidential
and shall not be disclosed except that such records may be disclosed to the
extent necessary for the proper operation of the Wadsworth Library.
Records shall be disclosed upon request or consent of the user or
pursuant to subpoena, court order or where otherwise required by statute.
